Your Clients Are Losing Money on International Payments

Banks, apps, and brokers treat every client the same - a self-service portal, a take-it-or-leave-it rate, and nobody watching out for them.

Cosmos is different. We offer personal, proactive currency guidance for every client, every time.

What The Currency Industry Isn't Telling Your Clients

The default model in international payments is transactional. A client needs to move money, they log in, they get a rate, they click confirm. Nobody warned them the rate was poor. Nobody told them a better option was available. Nobody was watching the market on their behalf. For professionals advising clients with real international complexity, this creates real, measurable, avoidable harm.

Not the Real Trading Rate

Nobody told us the rate was costing us margin

Your business clients convert currency when they have to, at whatever rate is offered, with no strategy and no context. The result? FX costs buried in bank spreads, wire fees, and unfavourable conversion rates – quietly eroding the margins they worked hard to build.

What’s going unaddressed:

  • Rate decisions made under time pressure, with no market awareness
  • SWIFT fees stacking at every hop — sending bank, correspondent bank, receiving bank — with no transparency
  • No visibility over cumulative FX exposure across the year
  • Nobody alerting the business when market conditions align with their payment schedule
  • A $200,000 supplier payment treated identically to a $50 consumer transfer

The industry treats a startup’s first overseas hire the same as a $20M importer managing quarterly supplier payments. Cosmos doesn’t.

In practice:

An Irish technology company collecting USD revenue from US, Canadian, and African clients converts to both GBP and EUR to fund UK and European operations. Cosmos monitors USD/GBP and USD/EUR on their behalf — alerting them when rates align with their budget, eliminating last-minute conversions, and choosing the optimum payment rail to avoid unnecessary intermediary charges.

Small Differences, Big Cost

The estate settled, the currency conversion didn’t go well

Estates with overseas assets routinely face significant, avoidable losses at the point of currency conversion. Executors are experts in the law. They shouldn’t have to be experts in foreign exchange — but at the moment of conversion, they’re handed a bank rate and left to manage it alone.

What’s going unaddressed:

  • Estate conversions made at administratively convenient times, not market-advantageous ones
  • Bank rates for estate settlements carrying spreads up to 4% away from the interbank rate
  • Multi-jurisdiction beneficiaries creating multiple currencies, multiple payment rails, multiple points of cost and delay
  • No guidance on whether a spot conversion, phased approach, or forward rate lock best serves the estate’s obligations

Every estate — straightforward property sale or complex multi-asset settlement — deserves expert guidance, not a DIY portal.

No Guidance

We manage the family’s wealth, but this keeps slipping through the gaps

School fees in Europe, property costs in the UK, distributions to family members abroad — handled piecemeal across different providers with no consolidated view and significant hidden cost accumulating across dozens of transactions a year. Even private bank currency services rarely deliver the proactive, personalised oversight a global family genuinely needs.

What’s going unaddressed:

  • No single point of contact with a consolidated view of the family’s FX exposure
  • Reactive conversions driven by deadlines rather than market opportunity
  • Currency fluctuations quietly affecting the real value of overseas distributions and property budgets
  • Families still paying SWIFT fees on transactions that could be made as simple local payments
  • No proactive alerts when rates move in ways that matter to the family’s plans

A family office’s job is to make complexity manageable. Cosmos makes the currency piece straightforward.

A Currency Service Built Around People, Not Platforms

Cosmos was founded by Tony Redondo, who spent decades inside banking and financial services — long enough to understand exactly how and why the system consistently underserves the people who rely on it.

Direct access to a specialist

A Named Specialist, Not A Portal

Every Cosmos client works with a dedicated currency specialist who understands their situation — their obligations, timelines, currencies, and risk tolerance. When something changes in the market that matters to them, a real person reaches out. That’s not how banks work. It’s how Cosmos works.

Hidden costs are rarely explained

Proactive Market Monitoring On Your Client's Behalf

The standard model waits for your client to initiate a transaction. Cosmos monitors the market and alerts them when rates reach levels that align with their goals, budgets, and payment timelines — so they act from a position of knowledge, not necessity.

Bank rates aren't as competitive as they appear

Local Collection Accounts Eliminating the Hidden Cost of SWIFT

Sending a SWIFT payment typically costs $50 in transfer fees, plus up to 0.15% taken by intermediary banks — on a $200,000 payment, that’s $350 in charges before the money arrives, plus 3–5 business days of delay. Most clients have no idea, because the fees are fragmented and opaque.

Cosmos clients have access to seven local collection accounts, enabling payments to be made and received as domestic bank transfers — in the local currency, with none of the SWIFT overhead:

🇬🇧 United Kingdom    🇪🇺 European Union    🇺🇸 United States    🇨🇦 Canada    🇦🇺 Australia    🇸🇬 Singapore    🇭🇰 Hong Kong

No SWIFT fees. No delays. No complexity.

Guidance on the Right Payment Approach

Not every payment is the same. Cosmos advises on which combination of spot trade, forward contract, limit order, or local transfer best fits the specific situation — so clients make informed decisions, not default ones.

  • Spot trade — immediate delivery at the current market rate
  • Forward contract — lock in a rate up to 12 months ahead, fixing cost or revenue at the outset
  • Limit orders — target a rate on the upside or protect a floor on the downside, monitored 24/7
  • Local transfers — send funds via online banking to a local collection account, avoiding SWIFT entirely
Trusted for over ÂŁ10,000 transfers

Client Funds Are Always Protected

Cosmos only works with FCA-authorised platforms. While funds are in the US, they are held with a tier-one US bank under standard US banking regulations. Once transferred to Cosmos’s FCA-regulated partner in London, they are held in a fully segregated client account — protected under UK FCA client money rules.

Unlike FDIC insurance, which caps deposit protection at $250,000, there is no upper limit on the protection of client funds held through Cosmos and its regulated partners. Your clients’ money is never pooled with operational funds — at any stage of the process.

Security is not a selling point. It’s a baseline.
